LGC supports Cargohaus advocacy
“It has to be a personal discipline on its own”, says Lina Group of Companies Chairman Alberto D. Lina during the launching of OHSAS.
OHSAS or Occupation Health and Safety Management System is a project under Cargohaus that aims to educate employees under the LGC about proper waste segregation.
This project also reduces the number of trucks that travel to dump sites that carries Cargohaus’ 30 cubic meters of solid waste every week. OHSAS was launched during the PEP day of LGC in the early morning of 4 October 2010 and is tagged as “Basura Ko, Kargo Ko”.
Different companies under the Lina Group participated to make this project possible. Delegates shared their expertise in waste management, environmental concerns, and safety during the launch. Trash bins labelled with biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable had its ceremonial unveiling followed by signing of pledge to participate in the OHSAS project.
